The most wanted coffee shop of this month, Toby's Estate Coffee!
Finally they just opened for the first time in Indonesia. Joining the coffee shop's hype in the north of Jakarta, Toby's Estate is occupying a place in PIK Avenue lobby. The strategic place with superb vibe and ambiance will make you falling in love when the first time you hit this place.
The first thing I noticed about this place was the huge coffee bar setup with 3 beasts espresso machine! They put two Spirit Duette with double groups each back to back, one for the take away counter and another for the dine-in counter. Those coffee bar was very fancy yet so good looking with the Mazzer Major grinder was aside on each espresso machine.
If it's not cool enough, they also put one espresso machine which is the very first ever in Indonesia, Mavam Espresso machine (will update for the Mavam pict).
As the even started, Mr. Imron J. Kusuma gave a warm welcoming speech to the audience and continued with Toby Smith, the founder of Toby's Estate Coffee Roasters. He shared about all of his experiences about coffee. Starting from how he started to love coffee and became so passionate.
The event also followed by a mini workshop for manual brewing, here was Tom Hespe, the Head Trainer of Toby's Estate Coffee. He explained about how to brew our own coffee with that can produce a great coffee result. From the grind size, temperature and weighing your coffee beans, it all has an impact in your coffee.
Latte (40k)
That was the Latte (40k) by Toby's and it has quite smooth body and a little bit of bittersweet chocolate aftertaste. Their Latte has a decent taste, if you love a bodied coffee better you request an extra shot for your cup.
Espresso (20k)
Completing my curiosity for their coffee, finally I ordered their Espresso (20k). It was using a Kenya Malimbe with Full-Washed process. I got a hint of chocolate flavor with sweet toffee, round body and it has long aftertaste. Simply mild espresso to enjoy.
Overall both of their espresso and latte has good impression on me. Despite of the crowd, the consistency of their coffee was pretty impressive. I ordered a couple of cup again and yap it tasted the same as before. Double thumbs up for the consistency! Looking for another great experience on my next visit.
Something special on the slow bar was the Kenya Rukira AA, a special release by Toby's Estate for filter coffee. I had chance to try this one with notes of bright berry-like acidity, hint of citrusy flavor and juicy body. The coffee has quite good potential and could be taste better. I am just expecting more for this good coffee.
The Cold Drip was something worth to try, asked the staff for it's availability and was lucky that I can tried it. Using Ethiopia Torea, the cold drip was a typical of pure black coffee and has intense flavor. This cold drip was quite mild and perfect to enjoy while chilling at Toby's.
The coffee bar was an interesting place for me to explore. Let's see another thing from Toby's Estate!

Buttermilk Chicken and Corn Fritata (105k), the first dish we had from the Toby's menu was this. A deep fried chicken with crispy texture, served with coleslaw, Corn Fritata and dressing sauce. Those huge portion could make up to 2 persons.
Patty Melt Burger (105k)
The second dish, Patty Melt Burger (105k). Juicy and tender beef patty accompanied with cheese, tomato and caramelized onion inside. It also served with french fries on the side.
Beef Ragu Pappardelle (95k)

A home made pappardelle pasta cooked in tomato beef ragu. This kind of pasta was a perfect choice if you are looking for a casual meal.

A refreshing salad witu Charred Kale, Red Quinoa, Cauliflower, shallots and topped with shredded chicken.
These grand opening was quite impressive with several guest star joining the event such as: Joe Taslim & Julia Taslim, Agatha Suci, Olivia Lazuardy, Maria Rahajeng and Elizabeth Rahajeng.
